Help
Ministry, a charity organization within the Church of Christ, has donated to
its branch in Bolgatanga. The items which include 80 bags of used clothing and assorted
foot wares were handed over to the church for onward distribution to needy
institutions in the Upper East Region.
The donation which was made at the forecourt of the church’s branch in Bolgatanga
was aimed at improving the lives of the less privileged in society. The leader
of the Ministry, Pastor George Kingsley Abuga, who made the presentation, said his
church was dedicated to reaching out to the poor and the needy in society. He
explained that the donation was made possible through the support of benevolent
committees of over 45 churches in the Accra Metropolis. He also indicated that
such donations had been extended to other needy individuals. These include
scholarship and educational support for brilliant but needy students,
surgeries, as well as the payment of medical expenses for people with hole in
heart among other special ailments. He
emphasized that his ministry was not only interested in the spiritual wellbeing
of the majority, but also ensuring the empowerment of the vulnerable, the
excluded and the aged. He said Christ exemplified the act of giving during his
days; therefore it was incumbent on Christ followers to develop the habit of
giving in order to win favour from God. Evangelist Roger Ayila, who received
the items on behalf of the church thanked the Help Ministry for its sense of
benevolence and appealed to other churches to emulate. In a related
development, the Help Ministry donated an unspecified cash amount to the
management of the Bongo Church of Christ Orphanage. The Director of the
Orphanage, Pastor Adam Akurumolga, expressed his gratitude to the ministry and
called for additional support in the area of feeding and the provision of
beddings since most of the children sleep on the floor. Pastor Abuga pledged to
forward their request to the leadership of the ministry for consideration.
