NAGRAT instruct members to stay out of the classroom

15-05-2015
The Leadership of the National Association of Graduate Teachers, NAGRAT Upper East Chapter, had instructed it members to stay out of the classroom and offices for a week beginning tomorrow May 16, 2014. The directive according to the Regional Secretary, George Abogro, was necessitated by the government’s failure to address the issues raised on March 27, 2014 which include non-payment of recruited teacher’s salary as well as incremental credit arrears for 2011 and 2012. Others are government refusal to remit teachers’ pension contribution to GES trustees to manage, staff rationalization policy,   non-payment of transfer grants to affected teachers and the payment of only three month’s salary arrears policy. He told Radio Ghana's Isaac Asare that members of the association were ready to join their colleagues in other regions to embark on the intended nationwide strike action until their demands are met. He assured the general public that these issues are not from those raised in last year’s strike which was suspended due to calls from stakeholders and well-meaning Ghanaians.
