Calm restored to Atulbabisi following bloody skirmishes

Calm had been restored following last Saturday’s bloody skirmishes between factions to the Bolga skin at Atulbabisi, a suburb of Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region. 

Seven people sustained gunshot wounds and are currently receiving medical attention at the Bolgatanga regional hospital. 

An emergency meeting involving the security and elders of the two royal families was held aftermath the incident to deliberate the way forward. 

The Regional Police Commander DCOP Simon Afeku, who represented the Regional Minister as the chairman of REGSEC told Radio Ghana;s Isaac Asare that efforts are being made to maintain law and order and that what happened on was unfortunate. 

He said his men were quickly deployed to the area when news of the impasse broke out. He lauded the swift intervention of the Ghana National Fire Service and personnel from the military Airborne Unit for their invaluable roles in the protection of lives and property.

 He cautioned the elders and youth of the area to desist from violent behaviours and warned that those caught fomenting trouble will be dealt accordingly. DCOP Afeku, therefore urged the people in the municipality to remain calm since the security were firmly on the ground to ensure restore peace. 

So far no arrest had been made but the police had assured to bring perpetrators of the dastardly act to book.
