Danger looms as water to undertake services in short supply at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital

Current water rationing experienced in communities within Bolgatanga and its immediate environs is  affecting daily operations at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital.

The facility now depend on the services of water tankers to assist in maternal and surgical operations. The Medical Director at the hospital, Dr Patrick Atobrah, who confirmed this to Radio Ghana's Isaac Asare stated that the facility is largely dependent on tanker services because supply of water by the Ghana Water Company Limited is not regular.

He said due to the shortage, operations sometimes delay and at instances where water is in short supply, the facility is always left with no option than to falls on two of its water containers, which are quite insufficient to run the daily laundry services.

Dr Atobrah, however disclosed plans by the hospital to construct additional boreholes to augment the existing water facilities. He hinted that the facility is in talks with organizations and agencies to assist in that regard.

He added that once the regional administration and managers of the Ghana Water Company Limited have been briefed on the matter, he was hopeful that the problem will be solved in no time.

Dr Atobra took the opportunity to dispel media speculations that seems to portray that the situation has assumed an alarming proportion and that the hospital is unable to conduct operations.

More so, pregnant women due for operation are sent to other facilities to have such operations performed on them.
