Assembly
Members at the newly created Nabdam District have finally endorsed Vivian
Anarfo, as president’s nominee for the position of a District Chief Executive
(DCE). Mrs Anarfo who was DCE for the then Talensi-Nabdam district clinched 12
out of 17 votes to be confirmed as DCE for Nabdam. Her re-confirmation follows
the separation of Talensi from Nabdam. At a brief gathering held at Nangodi,
the district capital, Mrs. Anarfo showed a great depth of gratitude to the
electorates for the confidence repose in her and called for collective effort
in bringing development to the area irrespective of party and ethnic
affiliation. People of Nabdam, she pointed are people with one common destiny,
emphasizing that the development of the area was key to her development agenda
and would leave no stone unturned to change the lives of the people for the
better. The Deputy Upper East Regional Minister, Mrs. Lucy Awuni commended the
government for giving the people of Nabdam a district and appealed to the
people to work towards the rapid development of the new district. She said
government realizing the need to develop every corner of the country, particularly,
deprived areas took into consideration the creation of new constituencies as a
way to deepening democracy at the grassroot level. The Member of Parliament (MP)
for the area, Mr. Moses Asaga who also doubles at the Employment and Social
Welfare Minister, stressed the need for total collaboration between members of
the assembly and the DCE. This, he observed, was necessary for the progress of
development in the area. He also charged the people to co-exist peacefully and
refrain from acts capable of destroying their long standing unity.
