The Bolgatanga District
Minister of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev James Awuni has predicted
2016 as year of divine blessing and an era for new opportunities, therefore it
is incumbent of Christ believers to remain steadfast and unwaveringly committed
to the will of God.
He said as the
country enters the electioneering year, Christians owe it a duty to exemplify
the character traits of Jesus Christ and live in accordance with his dictates
This, he noted will compel unbelievers to tolerate each other and conduct their
political campaigns devoid of intimidation and use of intemperate language.
Rev
Awuni gave the advised in an interview with Radio Ghana after
a watch night service at Peniel congregation in Bolgatanga to usher in the
new year.
Rev Awuni also used the opportunity to advised the youth especially
unemployed graduates to venture into entrepreneurship and take self-initiatives
to create jobs not only themselves but also others that did not have the chance
to pursue their educational careers.
He said being innovative is one of the
surest ways of reducing unemployment since government cannot absorb all school
leavers.
While advising the youth to be
innovative, Rev Awuni further cautioned the youth against indecent lifestyles
that lead to self-destruction, adding that with determination God will create
window of opportunities for them.
Meanwhile, members of the various Christian
faith in the Upper East held a vigil night to usher in the new year.
This was
marked with intense praise and worship as people danced uncontrollably in
appreciation for God’s infinite mercy and protection over their lives
throughout 2015.
Prayers were said asking for God’s blessing in overcoming the
challenges encountered in 2015. Interestingly, almost all the drinking pubs in
and around the Bolgatanga Municipality were highly patronised.
People also
danced to their favourite highlife and hiplife tunes with some exhibiting their
dancing skills on the streets waiting anxiously to meet the new year.
