Government commended for interventions in education delivery

The Upper East Regional Chairman of the Ghana National Association of Teachers, GNAT, Stephen Gebute has commended government for the interventions it has made in education delivery in the country.  At the regional celebration of World Teachers day at Bolgatanga, Mr Gebute said GNAT will continue to play its role as a major actor in the educational sector.  Additionally, the Association will continue to ensure job security for its members.  Mr Gebute asked government to demonstrate its commitment to improving the lives of teachers through increased remuneration and also increase investment in the education sector.  He proposed that the day be declared a public holiday as teaching is the mother of all professions.  The Deputy Upper East Regional Minister, Mrs Lucy Awuni expressed grave concern about the continuous fallen standard of education in the region and the country as a whole, and craved the indulgence of all to join in the crusade to reverse the trend.
