Management
and staff of Tanga Radio, a local FM station in Bolgatanga are still counting
their losses after fire gutted the station in the early hours of yesterday.
Though the cause of the fire has not yet been established, many have attributed
it to the severe thunder and lightning that struck the region the night before
the fire outbreak. No casualty was recorded. The Chief Executive Officer of the
station, Bawa Agana, told Radio Ghana that personnel of the Ghana National Fire
Service did what they could to control the inferno but to no avail. He said
studio equipments running into thousands of Ghana cedis were all burnt. He
described the situation as pathetic and was hopeful that the station will
bounce back with the support of individuals and organisations. Mr Agana,
thanked residents of the region for their show of concern and urged them to
come to their aid.
