The nationwide voter exhibition exercise today recorded an abysmally low turn out in designated polling centres across the Upper East Region.
Today being the first day of the voter exhibition exercise, turn out has not been encouraging because a visit to most centres showed sheer apathy on the part of registrants.
The overall turnout of the 21-days exercise which end in August 5, was below average.
In almost 20 of the centres visited within Bolgatanga central and East constituencies none had registered more than eight persons at at 10:47 am.
At Frafra Traditional Council No. 1 in Bolga, for instance only seven people had successfully went through the process.
Moreover, Frafra Area Council Number 2 had not recorded any registration at the same period.
The highest was the Zuarungu polling centre, where 13 people had sailed through the process at the time of the visit.
Also at the Bolga house of chiefs, as at 1: 14pm, only 18 persons have gone through the exercise peacefully.
Speaking to Radio Ghana's Isaac Asare, the officer in charge, Rakeeb Seida expressed grave dissatisfaction about the level of patronage and blamed it on low publicity and the usual last minute attitude of most Ghanaians.
At Bukere D/A and lower primary B, only two persons had managed to go through the process as at 1:30pm.
Here the centre recorded one double registration.
He was thereby asked to go the district EC office to prove his eligibility.
At lower primary A only 3 had gone through the registration exercise successfully.
Registration officers were virtually having a field day in anticipation that the number might increase marginally.
Interestingly political party agents were not visible at most of the polling centers visited despite the importance attached to the exercise.
