Christians
have been asked to renew their faith in God by going all out to proclaim the
teachings of Christ and his examples to redeem lost souls.
Biblically, the mandate
of the church and every believer is to actualize the core business of Jesus
Christ, which is evangelism to convince unbelievers to change from their sinful
ways and get closer to God.
The General Manager of the Presbyterian Health
Services, North, Fred Effah Yeboah, said of recent, most Christians have fallen
prey to ungodly activities of self-acclaimed prophets and evangelists.
This is
because there is unseemly apathy on the part of believers to propagate the
message of salvation to the poor and the oppressed.
Mr. Yeboah, who was
delivering a sermon at this year's mini harvest of Peniel Presbyterian Church in Bolgatanga, therefore charged Christians
to rise up to the challenge of embarking on vigorous evangelism to win souls
for Christ.
Mr.
Yeboah further bemoaned the growing concern where people professing to be Christians
devote active time in doing things that do not bring salvation.
He described as
regrettable, the growing trend where most Ghanaians have developed the penchant
of viewing telenovela's and other TV reality shows at the expense of sharing
the word of God with unbelievers.
This according to him is a working strategy
developed by the devil to take people’s attention from things of God and urged Christians
not be swayed by mere entertainment.
The Mini Harvest service which was on the theme: " Empowered to Witness''
forms part of the church's yearly activities to raise funds in aid of its
church building.
The NPP Parliamentary candidate for Bolgatanga Central, Rex
Asanga who was there to grace the occasion seized the opportunity to address
the congregation on his candidature and solicited the church's support in
prayer as he embarks on a competitive electoral journey battle come November,7.
In a brief message, the District Minister in-charge of the Bolgatanga Peniel Presbyterian
Church, Reverend James Kwame Awuni advised Mr Asanga to send Godly messages
around and conduct his campaign in a manner that will not incite violence.
The
church at the end of service bagged an amount of 12 thousand Ghana Cedis to assist
in the construction of the church building.
