The Newly elected NDC Constituency Women’s Organiser for Bolgatanga Central, Regina Abotineraba, has been honoured by the Market Women Association (MWA) at a ceremony in Bolgatanga. It was attended by some government officials including party Executives as well as sympathizers. Madam Abotineraba, in a speech expressed her willingness to work closely with her party executives to help achieve their set objectives and also improve upon the lives of women in her constituency, particularly, the market women. Madam Abotineraba urged the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly to help reconstruct the Bolgatanga market which according to her has been abandoned for the past ten years. She also appealed to the assembly to grant the market women soft loans to cater for their businesses. Addressing the gathering, the Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive, Epsona Ayamga took the opportunity to educate the people on the need to prepare adequately for the upcoming National Identification Programme and the National Population Census. Mr. Ayamga also entreated participants to register for the National Health Insurance scheme which, he said, has come to address the health needs of Ghanaians. Mr. Ayamga pledged his support for women in the region adding that the assembly would work towards the reconstruction of the Bolgatanga market. He emphasised that NDC, as a social democratic party, will continue to fight the cause of the youth in the country and called for the support of the people. Earlier, the Bolgatanga Market Women paid a courtesy call on the Deputy Upper East Regional Minister, Mrs Lucy Awuni at her office to congratulate her on her appointment as a deputy minister. Mrs Awuni advised the women to work hard in order to generate more income to cater for their families.
