24-11-09 RICE PTOJECT
A project dubbed “Strengthening the Rice Value Chain in the Upper East Region’’ has been initiated by TradeAID. The project which is aimed at bringing together all the rice actors and to explore ways of revamping the local rice industries in the region by identifying and training rice farmers groups in the area of micro enterprise development as well as leadership and group dynamics, will also seek to partner with other local institutions. It will also seek to build the capacity of women involved in the parboiling of rice at the various processing centres in the region as well as facilitate the development of new and attractive package materials and also support local rice distributions to develop business plans and funding from financial institutions.
