Ann: The Minister of Trade and Industries, Miss Hanna Tetteh has paid a working visit to the Upper East Region during which she visited institutions and interacted with personnel under her Ministry. The aim was to get to know at first hand the challenges facing the people and how best to solve them. Miss Tetteh, who was accompanied by Upper East Regional Minister, Mark Woyongo and the National Co-ordinator, Youth in Agriculture and Block Farming Programme, Mr. Emmanuel Akuna visited the Tono
Roll Tape Irrigation Project, the Northern Star Tomato Factory at Pwalugu, the Paga border post as well as the Upper Quarry also at
Take Tape Pwalugu.
ANCR V/O At Tono Miss Tetteh and her entourage visited the reservoir and some of the farms. Briefing the Minister earlier, the Tono Project Manager, Alhaji Issa Bukari disclosed that the region is expecting one thousand nine hundred and seventy two metric tonnes of paddy rice, tomatoes, onions pepper, soya beans and one thousand two hundred and seventy tones of cereal and legumes this year.

ANCR V/O The Upper East Regional Minister, Mr. Mark Woyongo assured farmers of government’s commitment to make agriculture the number one priority in the country. He hinted that government in its efforts to ensure food security in the country has put in place measures to subsidize and reduce prizes of fertilizers to its barest minimum

ANCR V/O The Minister of Trade and Industries , Miss Hannah Tetteh pledged government’s support in ensuring that funds are sourced from donors to increase agric production in the country. According to her, government had so far demonstrated its determination to tackle the issues in the agricultural sector by providing tractors, subsidized fertilizer among other agric policies and initiatives.
He urged them to be hard working and be patient with government while it found concrete solutions to address challenges confronting agriculture.
